I stand in front of the mirror, carefully applying sindoor, sliding on bangles, and adjusting my mangalsutra so that it’s visible. Today, I make sure everything is as it should be. It’s not like the usual days, when I hide my sindoor beneath my hair and keep my mangalsutra covered. I’m going to the temple today to break the coconut, and despite my leg injury, I managed to get up and make breakfast—just like I did in the past two years. I didn’t think anyone would even notice my absence, but I can’t dwell on that right now. It's almost 8:30, and I need to get to the temple, then back home to change before I see Ansh.
